Nine Asturian companies will attend the international BioSpain meeting

The European Business and Innovation Centre of the Principality of Asturias (CEEI) and nine companies from the biotechnology sector will participate in the eighth international biotechnology meeting BioSpain 2016, which will be held in Bilbao until 30 September.bre.

Attendance at this fair is part of the international projection activities funded by the Society for the Foreign Promotion of the Principality of Asturias (Asturex).

The CEEI will have a stand at the fair to promote the presence of Asturian biotech companies with the aim of boosting their competitiveness and promoting their internationalisation.

The nine biotech companies from the Principality of Asturias attending the fair are:

  • Asturian Biotechnology, focused on animal in vitro fertilisation;
  • BioQuochem, dedicated to biomarkers in health and bioparameters in foodstuffs;
  • DREAMgenics, dedicated to the bioinformatics analysis of genomic data; and
  • Dropsens, specialising in the development of instruments and devices for electrochemical research.
  • Entrechem, dedicated to the development of new drugs;
  • GiStem Research, for the development of biological products based on uterine stem cells; HealthSens, for biomarker detection systems;
  • Nanovex Biotechnologies, offering products and services related to nanobiotechnology;
  • Neoalgae Micro Seaweed Products, focused on microalgae biotechnology.

By participating in BioSpain, companies will have the opportunity to attract customers and investors, generate relationships and synergies with other companies and research organisations, learn about the latest developments in the biotechnology sector and identify business opportunities.

In addition, three Asturian companies have been selected to present their proposals at the international investment forum held as part of BioSpain: HealthSens, Entrechem y BioQuochem.

BioSpain, the main biotechnology event held in Spain, is held every two years and stands out internationally for the large number of companies attending.

At the last edition, there were more than 800 companies, 2,200 visitors and 3,350 business meetings.

The European Business and Innovation Centre offers acceleration programmes for the maturation of new business projects or new lines of business for existing biotech companies and support for access to specific lines of financing.

In recent years, the CEEI has advised 62 projects and companies and has participated in the start-up of 16 new biotech companies.
